Work with the logistics arm of an international engineering brand to raise performance in certain aspects of its operation.
The Challenge
An extensive investigation within the organisation raised serious issues with respect to employee engagement. These were impacting individual behaviours and priorities and affecting performance. Caterpillar resolved to address these issues.
The TPI Intervention
Investment in Excellence® implemented under a dedicated Six Sigma project.
Facilitator training to build an internal capacity for delivery of Investment in Excellence® at scale.
Key Results
- A noted reduction in absenteeism.
- Higher motivation amongst staff.
- More willingness to take on more shifts.
- More initiatives instigated by staff.
- The Employee engagement figure at the Alabama site rose in favourable terms from 38% to 75% subsequent to the introduction of Investment in Excellence®. In Louisville this figure was 25% to 41%.
- In unfavourable terms, the dissatisfaction index decreased from 28% to 13% in Alabama and from 41% to 26% in Louisville.
